3 Non-ABAP Puzzles - Solution

[ABAP Spirit]

We’re starting a new week, and I don't know how it is with you, but Mondays are hard for me.

After a relaxing weekend, I struggle with starting my brain. That’s why I want to start this week with a small Brain Exercise.

Moreover, I have another REASON why we’re starting with puzzles this week—more about it in the second half of this email.

So, let’s solve puzzles :)

I have prepared 3 different kinds of puzzles. It’s entirely up to you which you will solve—all or just one that you like.

Here we’re...

Logic Puzzle:

There are three people (Alex, Ben and Cody), one of whom is a knight, one a knave, and one a spy. The knight always tells the truth, the knave always lies, and the spy can either lie or tell the truth.

Alex says: “Cody is a knave.”
Ben says: “Alex is a knight.”
Cody says: “I am the spy.”

Who is the knight, who the knave, and who the spy?

Triangle Puzzle:

How many triangles are there?

And we’ll end this with the play of kings...

Chess Puzzle:

Mate in Three Moves, White to Play

(Solutions at the end of the website.)

Before I share the solution's link with you, let me explain another reason why I sent you puzzles today.

One of the common questions that I'm often getting is the following:

  • What do I need to know or have when I want to become ABAP-er (or developer in general)? Is there any pre-requisite before I start learning?

And the question can be broadened… Do you have any pre-requisites before enrolling in a Monthly ABAP Spirit Coaching Program?  (which is now open for you only for 100 Eur per Month).

The short answer is hidden in the puzzles.

If you enjoyed it and now you want to check your answers ...
… that's a really good sign that the way how we're bringing you the Knowledge of ABAP would be a good fit for you.

Why?

The crucial skill of any developer (and also the pre-requisite) is logical and analytical thinking.

Because ...you need to become a problem solver.

It doesn't necessarily mean you always find the answer (maybe you didn't solve all 3 puzzles), but you need to starve for answers.

You need to train your Brain. It's not so different from Brain Puzzles :)

And it's fun, too.

Solutions of puzzles.

Take care and stay safe
