Let me show you how it works.

In order to practice ABAP, you need to install an SAP system.

Sounds simple enough, right?

WRONG!

I have over 10 years of ABAP experience and have installed this system over many times in my career.

And let me tell you, It's as fun as watching paint dry.

First off, the guides available online are often outdated.

And that's not even the worst part.

You'll find this out only AFTER you try downloading the links they recommend and be welcomed with the horrible realization that they don't work anymore.

Ugh!

You then have to go online to find another guide with ZERO guarantees if it will work this time around.

Trial and error.

Don't even get me started with Mac vs. Windows compatibility issues.

How long did it take me to install one last time?

4 days!

Yes, almost an entire workweek.

Here's the kicker.

It wasn't a solo job!

I had help from a senior ABAP programmer with (10+ years of ABAP experience).

Just the thought of a newbie doing everything by himself gives me the creeps.
